WARM SUMMER SUN

for SATB choir (2018)
Duration: 4'

Warm Summer Sun uses a text originally written by Robert Richardson, but adapted by Mark Twain (to be engraved on his daughter's headstone). The music is simple in harmony, and calm in texture. This piece is a prayer for the lost:

Warm summer sun
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.

Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
.

This piece was premiered by Mississauga Summer Chorale at First Unit Church Port Credit in summer of 2018.
